Director’s Statement

When I have studied Philosophy in my life I have always thought about the Idea of Subjectivity is one on the most crucial problem which we come across as humans in the modern world. The concept of Subjectivity is the idea that ALL life experience is Subjective and therefore no experience is better than another. Rene Descartes proved this in his book “Meditations on First Philosophy” which was released in 1641 and his famous quote is “I think, therefore I am” What this really means is that we cannot prove anything to actually be real, because all you can truly prove as a person is that YOU exist. This then opens the door for the idea that no idea or experience is better than another simply because there are infinite ways to exist and infinite ways to think. I find major problems with this idea and Ive been thinking about it for years now. If you make the claim that there isn’t a better or worse way to exist in the world then you are actually making the claim that any belief structure can and should exist because its all subjective, BUT the major thing I want to show is that inside of Subjectivity there is objectivity. A prime example of this is Nazi Germany during WW2, this is a way to exist, but we now know that it is horrific and disgusting and SHOULDN’T be tolerated in Society, but it’s just a way to exist when you claim that all belief is Subjective. The main point I want to get across is that there are better and worse ways to exist in the world, even though all things are subjective. And if you can prove this then it stems even farther than just these extreme examples, it shows that what your beliefs are and what you think is the creation of something Objective, therefore Objectivity does exist, therefore Subjectivity isn’t a proof that all ideas are equal, meaning there are better ideas than others, meaning there is better and worse ways to exist.
